#FollowFriday – @WritersPodcast: Mining the pyrite of speculative fiction for Literary Gold!

by Doc Coleman - Nifty Tech Editor July 13, 2012 Follow Friday

It has been a while since I’ve done one of these. It isn’t that there aren’t plenty of folks out there worth following. Quite the contrary, there are a lot of them. The fault has been mine. I’ve simply been trying to work too many projects.

But this isn’t about me. This is about someone who has bent his creative energies to finding new ways to helping others discover and develop their own creativity. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the man behind the Roundtable Podcast. I give you Dave Robison, aka. @WritersPodcast.

#FollowFriday – @NaNoWriMo: The official voice of National Novel Writing Month!

by Doc Coleman - Nifty Tech Editor October 28, 2011 Follow Friday

I know things have been pretty quiet around here in the past few months. Things have been pretty chaotic for me this summer and The Nifty Tech Blog has pretty much taken the brunt of it. Scott has also had a tough time of it, with publishing a Young Adult novel and a collection of Horror short stories. We do have some folks lining up to do some guest reviews for us, but that still doesn’t get me out of my share of editing duties.  So where am I going with all this? We have more content coming, it is just going to take a little bit to get it out to you. Part of the reason for this is this week’s Follow Friday pick: @NaNoWriMo.

#FollowFriday – @Americas911: Honoring First Responders, their families, and the victims of the September 11th attack.

by Doc Coleman - Nifty Tech Editor August 19, 2011 Editorial

I am not a big one for politics. Really, I’m not. A lot of the time I see politics as the opportunity to choose a side between two incorrect answers to an irrelevant question. There are problems inherent in the system, and all the energy goes to choosing sides instead of actually attempting to solve the problems. I just can’t get that worked up over answers to the wrong questions. So, that said, I hope you’ll forgive me if this post comes off as more politically inclined. I will admit that I am a bit ticked off over it, which is why this article is under the Editorial category too. So please indulge me, as I’d like to tell you a little about @Americas911, and what they’ve been doing.

#FollowFriday – @Dansr – Mama, Musician, Goddess of Perk, and a damn fine person.

by Doc Coleman - Nifty Tech Editor August 5, 2011 Follow Friday

I follow a lot of different creative people on Twitter. I follow a lot of creatively different people on Twitter. And I follow some people who are just good folks. But sometimes you find someone who is creative, different, and still good folks. To demonstrate my meaning, I give you @Dansr.

#FollowFriday – @cmdln: Hacker, podcaster, hacktivist, home brewer.

by Scott Roche July 29, 2011 Follow Friday

This particular Follow Friday was one I was sure had already been snapped up. Thomas Gideon aka cmdln is as geeky and podcaster-y as it gets. He’s hosted the Command Line podcast and blog for quite some time, talking about open source, security, and programming. He’s also a part of the Living Proof Brewcast with John Taylor Williams (probably my next Follow Friday victim).

#FollowFriday – @PauleyP: Actress, NoH8 Activist, Civil Right’s Champion, and Captain of #TeamInsomnia

by Doc Coleman - Nifty Tech Editor July 22, 2011 Follow Friday

This week we have a special late night #FollowFriday to honor one of my favorite late night stars. In this case, the star in question isn’t known for late night television, but is instead a television star who is usually up late at night. Folks, I give you the official Twitter of Pauley Perrette, @PauleyP, probably best known as Abby Sciuto, the quirky and sexy forensic scientist on CBS’s “NCIS.”

#FollowFriday – @JAHite: Husband, father, IT professional, Writer, Co-editor Flying Island Press. Managing Editor for Flying Island’s Pirate Island.

by Scott Roche July 15, 2011 Follow Friday

That tagline just about says it all. I first got to know Jeff through his efforts at the short story anthology podcast he ran, Great Hites. I submitted a handful of stories to it and that was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Jeff is an excellent writer and an all around good guy.

#FollowFriday – @steven_moffat: Writer, producer, and top dog of Doctor Who and Sherlock

by Doc Coleman - Nifty Tech Editor July 8, 2011 Follow Friday

I’ve been a fan of Doctor Who for a long, long, long time. I stumbled across the show in the early 1980’s and have been watching ever since. Some fans of the old series cringe and cried when the new series came out in 2005, but I stayed with it, enjoying the higher production values the new series was able to achieve on the same dirt-cheap budget. And despite some strange stumbles and twists, it has mostly been worth while. One of the masterminds of the new Doctor Who series, and the current executive producer, is this week’s Follow Friday recommendation: @Steven_Moffat. Steven is the crafty mind behind some of the most twisted and intricate plots ever shown on Doctor Who.

#FollowFriday – @ZombieTheology: Where the zombie apocalypse intersects Christian theology… Stories, novel excerpts, articles, and more!

by Scott Roche July 1, 2011 Follow Friday

I am both a horror geek and a theology geek. If you follow me on Twitter, it’s likely that neither of these things surprise you. it isn’t often that you get those two things in one package, or at least that’s what I used to think. Enter @ZombieTheology. They are like Reese’s Cups Dark, if the candy shuffled around the blighted landscape looking for brains.

They tweet about a lot of zombie related things and they’re good sports, poking fun at themselves, the genre, and their focus. They also use it to feed folks their blog where most of the magic happens. They post stories, reviews, and blog articles trending heavily towards the shambling undead. They don’t shy away from the Christian angle to their passion though.

#FollowFriday – @PCHaring: Writer, Podcaster, Violist, Voice Actor, and the most interesting Accountant I’ve found.

by Doc Coleman - Nifty Tech Editor June 24, 2011 Follow Friday

There are some professions that just have a reputation for being boring. Politicians rate high on that list. As do lawyers. And even librarians. But topping the list of boring professions by far are accountants. There is just something about accounting that tends to make people’s eyes glaze over. But we’re not talking about boring people here. We’re talking about interesting people. We’ve had interesting lawyers and librarians in past Follow Friday posts. Now it is time for a very interesting accountant. He’s not just interesting for an accountant, he’s a downright creative person who just happens to also be an accountant. Meet @PCHaring.
