Happy 4th Birthday, Nifty Tech Blog!

by Doc Coleman - Nifty Tech Editor February 1, 2014 Announcements

That’s right, four years ago, on February 1st 2010, the first Nifty Tech blog post went live. While technology has come a long way since that first post, it is remarkable how so many of those early posts are still relevant today. For years is  long time in the technology industry, but I don’t think we’ve had a single Nifty Tech pick that has gone by the wayside. If anything, most of the products have managed to improve since the original reviews. And while things have been slow in the past year, we’re not done yet…

Technical Difficulties.

by Doc Coleman - Nifty Tech Editor December 20, 2011 Announcements

We are sorry for the problems with the previous post “I’m bringing Nifty Back” giving a 404 error. We’re working on the problem, but WordPress doesn’t seem to be behaving properly at all. We apologize for any inconvenience.

UPDATE: The problem is fixed now. Seems to have been a small issue with our permalinks, but we have it all sorted out.

I’m bringin’ Nifty Back.

by Doc Coleman - Nifty Tech Editor December 20, 2011 Announcements

This blog has been quiet for a while, but I wanted to assure folks that it hasn’t gone away. Scott and I have both had to take time away from Nifty Tech to pursue other projects. We had set a pretty steady pace, but with all the demands on our time we weren’t able to sustain it. But the Nifty Tech Blog isn’t quite dead yet. We are in the process of gearing up again, and you will have an opportunity to contribute to the success of the blog.

Happy Fourth of July!

by Doc Coleman - Nifty Tech Editor July 4, 2011 Announcements

Due to the observence of the Fourth of July Holiday here in the United States of America, and some other recent deadlines and celebrations, this week’s review will be delayed. We at the Nifty Tech Blog hope that everyone is having a happy and responsible weekend celebration. For those of you in the rest of the world, we hope that you have something to celebrate in your lives as well.

We’ve transitioned over to our new server! Finally! We haven’t finished all the changes we have in mind, but we’ve gotten enough done that we’re going to move to the new site. Keep an eye out for further changes as we move ahead.

Let us know what you think of the new site. We think it has a lot of promise.

An unexpected turn of events.

by Doc Coleman - Nifty Tech Editor February 14, 2011 Announcements

Friends and Neighbors, I was in the midst of putting the finishing touches upon today’s review, when I began suffering several bouts of painful gastric distress. It has been very distracting and has eaten up my time this evening. The upshot is that today’s review will be late as I need to get to sleep and hopefully recover from this malady. I will have the review finished and out to you as soon as I am physically able.  I am most sorry for the delay.

Happy Birthday, Nifty Tech Blog!

by Doc Coleman - Nifty Tech Editor February 2, 2011 Announcements

A year ago today, the Nifty Tech Blog launched with our first review of Delicious Library. So much has changed in a year. Since that time we’ve published 29 other reviews,  43 Follow Friday recommendations, and 5 editorials. In February 2010, the blog was a one man show, hosted in a corner of my .Mac account space using iWeb. Now Scott Roche has joined the staff, and we’ve had contributions by Odin1Eye and Philippa Ballantine, and a crossover event with Tee Morris’ Bird House Rules. We moved our hosting to Blogger, and thanks to the generous contributions from our readers, we’re getting ready to move to our own servers and to stand up a WordPress version of the Blog.

Help Support The Nifty Tech Blog

by Doc Coleman - Nifty Tech Editor October 20, 2010 Announcements

Have you been enjoying The Nifty Tech Blog? We certainly hope so. And we hope that you’d be willing to give something back. We want to bring you more features, more reviews, and better on site services. But we just don’t have the resources to do these things on our own. We’ll continue to do what we can, but there are a few things that you could do to help us bring you the reviews and features you’ve enjoyed up to now, and make things better for the future.

Columbus Day, Observed.

by Doc Coleman - Nifty Tech Editor October 11, 2010 Announcements

Just stopping by to let you folks know that nothing has gone wrong. Tee and I have decided to observe Columbus Day this year, so the review for this week will come out on Tuesday. I know a lot of folks don’t do anything for Columbus Day, and a lot of workplaces don’t even observe the holiday, but the discovery of the “new world” changed a lot of things in Europe and led to a lot of changes all over the world. Some of those have been good changes, and some bad, but on the whole I think that it has been beneficial in terms of lack of social strife and the creation of an environment where innovation in technology was necessary to survive.

July Poll Wrapup

by Doc Coleman - Nifty Tech Editor August 2, 2010 Feedback

July’s poll has come to an end, but before we look at the results, I’m afraid I’ve got a little administrative news to impart. I’ve been working to provide a special review for tomorrow, and coordinating everything is going to take a bit more time than expected. So instead of tomorrow’s review showing up at 12:01 AM, it is going to be delayed until 7 AM. It shouldn’t be any later than that. And hopefully, you’ll enjoy what we’ve got in store for you.
